Rich joined the team in 2022 as our Strategic Account Manager.
He brings ten years of experience working with wastewater programs across North America. Throughout his career, Rich has published articles covering the implementation and use of technology to manage FOG and Pretreatment programs.
Rich works closely with our customers to navigate the implementation process and ensure compliance teams get the most value from the SwiftComply software suite.
What did you do before you started working at SwiftComply?
Before I got to join SwiftComply, I was working for a company in a similar space. I have about ten years of wastewater regulatory compliance experience that I’ve brought with me.
What stood out to you about SwiftComply?
I’d gotten to know Mick through all the different conferences where he and I would bump into each other. And I really liked his approach to the software and specifically the compliance aspect of his software. And as he expanded from the FOG space into Backflow prevention, it was really exciting that he was bringing experts to help ensure Backflow prevention was being addressed effectively from a regulatory point of view. And I knew that I wanted to be a part of this team.
What are you most proud of since you started working with SwiftComply?
I’m really proud to be part of the implementation team that’s come together and tweaked some processes to make the journey for our customers that much easier and ensure that they can start using the software as quickly as possible.
What does your job entail?
Well, right now, my job entails leading customers through the data migration and implementation process for SwiftComply’s backflow software. But I’ll be transitioning here shortly into a strategic account management position where I can work with our customers across the product lifecycle. I am excited to get more involved, beginning during the sales process through to implementation and then ongoing user training. I’m most excited about being able to look after the needs of our customers from a higher-level perspective.
What is your favorite part of your job?
There are so many different aspects, but my favorite part of my job is getting to work with our customers. And it sounds corny, but they’re so dedicated to what they’re doing and making a difference for the communities that it inspires me to do my best work so that they can do their best work.
What’s the most exciting project you’re working on right now?
The most exciting project I’ve got going on right now is with the city of Atlanta. The impact our software will make on this huge city. And it’s been really fun because one of my colleagues and I share the responsibilities. We’re working together as a team to ensure that Atlanta is getting everything out of the software they need through the migration process.
How would you describe the company culture at SwiftComply?
The culture is one of the things that really appealed to me. From Mick on down, everybody embraces change and tries new things, and you know there will always be some bumps along the way, but as long as we learn from those bumps, we’re always getting better. And that’s a big part of the culture, ensuring we embrace that individually and as a team.
Is there anything particularly unique about our culture?
Several things come to mind, actually. One that I mentioned earlier is that Mick is passionate about bringing in people that are real experts in their field. So we’ve got some fantastic talent for industrial pretreatment. We’ve got great experience in FOG and Backflow. And as we grow with different regulatory software, we’ll continue to bring in those experts so we can look at the compliance issues through those experts’ eyes and understand the right questions to ask our customers at the right time.
What are some of the perks of working at SwiftComply?
There are a lot of different perks associated with SwiftComply. One of them is undoubtedly working from home. Being able to have a natural work-life balance is something that I was looking for. The other thing is working with this team and how we use our tools and technologies to share ideas and collaborate.
In your opinion, why is the work we do at SwiftComply important?
So I got into this industry ten years ago, and one of my passions is fly fishing. I’m in Colorado, and I love the feeling of standing in water and bringing that together to ensure that these municipal governments that we work with are doing everything they can to protect our lives and experiences. It is really important to me.
And when you think about it, we are helping our customers protect water for the next generation by putting the systems in place to enable them to do their job effectively.
