Our journey so far
The SwiftComply story begins in Dublin in 2016, though our roots stretch back to 2008. At this time, our CEO Michael O’Dwyer was working as an engineer at Dublin City Council where he developed Europe’s first Fat, Oil and Grease regulatory program to solve Dublin’s growing problems with excessive build-up of FOG.
Michael witnessed first-hand how the outdated regulatory processes and fragmented relationships between restaurant owners and regulators hindered virtually all clean up efforts.
After achieving a staggering 95% fatberg reduction in Dublin, Michael set about creating a tool that would revolutionalize how cities around the globe collaborate with the foodservice industry to solve this problem.
It’s been a whirlwind so far and you can check out some of our highlights below.
Shortly after SwiftComply's launch, we were accepted into the London TechStars program, a leading global start-up accelerator. It was there we began the process of transforming our idea into a global solution.
In early 2017, we were granted High Potential Start-Up status by Enterprise Ireland and also won Bank of Ireland’s StartUp of the Year Award. To cap off an amazing start to the year we were awarded a substantial grant from the Horizon 2020 program run by the EU. Their stated aim of tackling societal challenges through innovation perfectly reflected our vision for SwiftComply.
Our rapidly expanding global customer base allowed us to open our first US office in sunny California. We also received an investment from an amazing group of financiers including Techstars Ventures, Howzat Partners and 415 Investments.
We opened our Amsterdam office and partnered with Startup in Residence to radically change FOG management in the city. We launched our Vetstrijder campaign to engage foodservice entrepreneurs and provide them the knowledge and tools to efficiently employ sustainable FOG management practices.
Late 2018 saw SwiftComply operating in five countries and cooperating alongside some of the most innovative wastewater authorities in the world. Our goal is to be at the forefront of a global movement toward sustainable FOG management.
We began 2019 with the acquisition of XC2 software. The acquisition enabled us to launch SwiftBackflow, backflow prevention software that seamlessly notifies, collects and verifies backflow tests reports on behalf of water providers. We also now offer reclaimed water and hydrant and valve testing modules.
